Franci Crepeau-Hobson, Ph.D. is a professor and Program Director of the school psychology
program in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver.
She is a proud Denver native. Dr. Crepeau-Hobson completed her doctoral studies at the University of
Northern Colorado and was a practicing school psychologist for several years before moving into
academia. She is a licensed psychologist and licensed school psychologist. Dr. Crepeau-Hobson’s
primary area of research falls under the broad category of school safety – both in terms of physical
safety and psychological safety. More specifically, her work focuses on the understanding and
improvement of school psychological practice in matters related to the prevention and intervention of
school violence, youth suicide, and crisis response and intervention. Dr. Crepeau-Hobson has been
intentional in the integration of her scholarly work and her service activities with the intent to
contribute to the existing knowledge base while also providing practitioners with information and tools
that can foster best practice and positive outcomes. For example, Dr. Crepeau-Hobson is the current
Chair of the National Association of School Psychologists School Safety and Crisis Response
Committee, as well as a member of the Colorado Society of School Psychologists Statewide Crisis
Response Team. These teams provide comprehensive school-based prevention, intervention, and
postvention crisis resources and services to school districts around the country. Dr. Crepeau-Hobson
is also a member of Program Advisory Board of the Second Wind Fund, a non-profit organization
dedicated to the prevention of youth suicide.
