Dear SEHD Staff,
Have you ever found yourself at the end of the year working on your self-evaluation and struggling to remember exactly what you did with your year? Here’s a helpful tip from a fellow staff member–start documenting now! Spring is already here and believe it or not, we are more than one-quarter of the way through this year’s performance period already. So, what have you been up to?
Documenting your year doesn’t have to be complicated. Open up a word document and jot down your major accomplishments so far–did you attend some professional development trainings? Perhaps you already fulfilled an initiative as part of your yearly goals. What about recording any high level praise you received from a colleague? Take a few minutes to look back on emails and your calendar to make note of the progress you’ve made. Checking in with yourself on a quarterly basis will prevent the year-end amnesia that sets in when staring at a blank self-evaluation form at the end of the performance cycle.
If you find yourself with a few minutes today, do some reflecting and documenting….And thank us later!
