Sheila Shannon to Receive University of Colorado Denver Rosa Parks Award

Sparking the modern civil rights movement in the United States by refusing to give up her bus seat and being arrested for breaking Montgomery, Alabama‘s segregation laws, Rosa Parks helped to initiate a boycott of the city bus line that lasted 381 days. This eventually led to the 1956 Supreme Court ruling declaring segregation illegal on public buses.

For her strong commitment to diversity, Sheila Shannon has been selected as a Faculty Recipient for the University of Colorado Denver Rosa Parks Diversity Award. All recipients will be honored at the Rosa Parks Diversity Luncheon on April 20, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Tivoli 320 ABC on the Auraria Campus.

Congratulations, Sheila!
