Volunteers are needed for Spring 2021 Cross the Quad ceremony. Both staff and faculty are encouraged to volunteer. The roles for this event will be entirely different from years past. Roles will be assigned based on your sign up time and assignments will be confirmed at least a week prior to the events. Please click on the link below to sign up this week. Also, be sure to read through the description of what to expect for the event and some safety protocols. Reach out to Kelly.mason@ucdenver.edu for any questions.
Graduates will line up around the Quad at an assigned time and cross the stage in front of the historic Tivoli building to symbolize the completion of their studies at CU Denver. Graduate names will be announced, diploma covers will be presented, and professional photographers will be there to capture the moment. In addition, we are allowing up to two guests to accompany their grad to the event. Guests will travel around the Quad with their grad in a pod and will cross in front of the stage while their grad receives their diploma cover on stage.
SAFTEY GUIDELINES: We do have a number of safety protocols in place, including requiring all present to wear masks and limiting capacity to only 150 graduates per hour. However, if you do not feel comfortable coming to campus and interacting with students and their families, please do not feel pressured to volunteer for this event. Cross the Quad was intentionally designed to require significantly fewer volunteers than commencement, so I want to release folks from any concern about not feeling comfortable signing up. In addition, if you do volunteer and feel sick the day of your shift or are notified of a COVID-19 exposure, please do not “push through” and attend your shift. We will get through this as a team and I appreciate your time, energy, and personal safety immensely. If you have any questions about the design of the event before you sign up, please don’t hesitate to ask.
