The University of Denver is excited to host the 10th Annual Black Male Initiative Summit (BMIS) on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 7:00am – 5:30pm at the University of Denver. We hope to engage students in 9th – 12th grade, who identify as Black males, on topics of identity empowerment, leadership, and academic success. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Black Boy Joy!” Through dynamic workshops led by Black college students and professionals, we hope to empower participants to be role models in their school, community, and family.
In a commitment to the academic success of our student participants, they will be eligible for a free University of Denver application and a scholarship worth up to $7500 per year if they attend DU.
Additionally, there is an adult track designed for Educators, School Leaders, Counselors, and Community Members, as well as Parents/Guardians to increase their awareness and knowledge around the tools and best practices needed to support students and maximize the learning outcomes of the summit.
We invite you to register today as space is limited and seats will fill up quickly. Attached you will find a flyer that can be distributed to your networks and any Black male students in 9th – 12th grade you believe would benefit from attending.
