Please RSVP by noon on Tuesday, Jan. 30
This event is an opportunity to develop potential collaborations, as well as ideas for convergence research and Grand Challenges proposals for funding. To learn more about the Grand Challenges, click here.
At the symposium, you’ll get a quick overview of the Grand Challenges application process from our Office of Research Services before you provide your research presentation. We hope these presentations stimulate discussions and lead to the generation of new convergence research and Grand Challenges topics with large societal impact, engagement of broad stakeholder communities, and the adoption of innovative team science formations. The big ideas are aimed at solving problems that impact the community, region, and beyond.
Though proposals and ideas in all fields are welcome, this year’s Grand Challenges encourages proposals in the following areas that build upon existing or emerging research programs already contributing to CU Denver’s rising international research profile:
• Artificial intelligence/machine learning and data science
• Climate change (disaster preparedness, drought, environmental justice, resilience, and wildfire)
• Cybersecurity
• Democracy
• Health (bioengineering, genomics and epigenics, and health inequities)
• Smart cities
• STEM education (funded in part by the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)
• Urbanism, urban development, and sustainable urban infrastructure
If you are considering submitting an application for Grand Challenges funding, I encourage you to visit the ORS website, which provides additional details about this initiative and the request for proposals (RFP). You can also read about prior Grand Challenges grant awards.
