HR Tip- For those with a Health Savings Account (HSA) – Dec. 2 is the deadline to increase your contributions for 2023

Dear colleagues,

Employee Services recommends reviewing and updating your HSA contributions each year as contribution limits change. Taking advantage of the open enrollment period allows you to implement your desired changes at the start of the new year.

Your current contribution amount will continue uninterrupted into 2023 if you do not take action during this open enrollment period.

Starting at 8 a.m. MST Nov. 14 and ending 5 p.m. MST Dec. 2, faculty and staff enrolled in CU’s High Deductible health plan can enroll in a Health Savings Account or update their HSA contributions for 2023. Changes will be effective starting Jan. 1, 2023.

Each year, the IRS increases the contribution limit for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), and this year that limit has increased by $200 for individuals and $450 for families.

2023 IRS Contribution Limits:

  • $3,850 for single coverage
  • $7,750 for family coverage (2+members)
  • $1,000 additional for employee age 55 or older
