This presentation will provide an overview of Ms. Lopez’ ongoing research agenda, which addresses diverse families, their children, and their communities from an ecological perspective.  Ms. Lopez will highlight the life experiences that have shaped her social justice lens, which has served as a foundation in her work with culturally diverse families over the past 10 years.  She will share some of her research work from the past seven years, which reflects her research interests and current research agenda which is focused on the following three areas: 1) family and child well-being from an ecological and strength’s based perspective (with a focus on immigrant families and their legal status); 2) the intersection between family, schools, and communities, and its impact on the educational success of children from diverse families; and 3) culturally grounded interventions for diverse families and their children. She will conclude the presentation by sharing her plans for future research.
