On February 12, 2016, the CU Denver Academic Advising Council launched the first annual Academic Advisor Retreat.

The objectives of this event were to provide a professional development opportunity for academic advisors, to share updates of advising initiatives, and to engage advisors in discussions about priorities for academic advising at CU Denver.

Meredith Lopez, an academic advisor and coordinator in the School of Education & Human Development, was the keynote speaker. Throughout the day, advisors also heard from undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni, about their experiences with academic advising at CU Denver.

The Council welcomed 55 attendees to the retreat. Based on the survey responses, the Academic Advisor Retreat was a great success. Respondents indicated that the student testimonials were the most meaningful part of the retreat’s agenda.

The Council would like to extend special thanks to Raul Cardenas, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Jeff Franklin, Associate Vice Chancellor of Undergraduate Experiences for their support.
