The Center for Faculty Development (CFD) will host a Spring 2016 Meet & Greet reception on Wednesday, January 20, 12-1pm (Lawrence Street Center, 320). Please stop by to welcome the CFD’s new director Dr. Margaret Wood and our featured artist, Vivian George, Senior Instructor in the Painting/Drawing Program, College of Arts & Media. George’s colorful abstract oil paintings begin with a few loosely placed brushstrokes on a ground of color, setting off a sweep of movement and rhythm. George states: “The thrust of the stroke and the selection of color can seem random to me yet are most likely determined by a host of extrinsic and internal factors – past experience, current mood, heaviness and adventure.” Her drawings come from her interest in creating a deep field of vision in a small space. They too capture the flux of energy in nature.
Vivian George received her MFA in painting from Yale
University Her paintings are in the collections of Yale
University, American Reinsurance, Rutgers University,
Denver University, and Artists Union Moscow.
