Meredith Lopez, Academic Advisor/Coordinator for SEHD Teacher Education, has been nominated by the CU Denver Disability Resources & Services to serve on the first Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) to assist with the development of priorities for disability –related initiatives at the Denver and CU South Campuses.
The Disability Resources and Services Office is the designated office that maintains disability-related records, determines eligibility for academic accommodations, determines reasonable accommodations and develops plans for the provision of such accommodations for students attending the university.
This committee will meet twice/academic year (once in the fall semester; once in the spring semester) and will consist of faculty, students, staff and administrators.
Meredith has worked in collaboration with Disability Resources Office during her 11 years here at the university connecting students with the office for advocacy and assistance while also bridging the office supports with faculty and staff. She has staffed our SEHD table at the annual Disabilities Fair on campus as well as at the Council for Exceptional Children state wide conference.
