Future Teacher Expo 2026: Event Recap

On Friday, October 2, SEHD welcomed a total of 118 high school students for the 24th annual Future Teacher Expo: a day of inspiration, learning, and connection.
The Expo was kicked off with a Welcome address by Dr. Cindy Gutierrez, Assistant Dean of Teacher Education & Partnerships, who then introduced this year’s Keynote speaker: Vany Miramontes Marquez, an SEHD alumnus who did her undergraduate, MA, and soon her doctoral degree all through CU Denver, and the current principal of CMS Community School.
Student guests took part in interactive breakout sessions, led by volunteer Faculty members, and learned about how CU Denver’s teacher education programs can help them thrive in their future classrooms. Guests also had the opportunity to hear from current MISTERs, a P-TAP Fellow, and other current Teacher Ed students in a student panel.
Finally, students were treated to lunch and a resource fair, with representatives from Call Me MISER, P-TAP, T-PREP, HDFR, CU Denver Admissions, TEACH CO, and CDE providing additional information.
As of this post, 100% of students who submitted feedback would recommend the Future Teacher Expo to others with an interest in education. Additionally, 100% expressed an interest in pursuing a teaching license through CU Denver SEHD.
SEHD’s Office of Recruitment and Outreach would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the many volunteer staff, faculty, and students who made this event possible. If you are interested in supporting SEHD’s recruitment efforts, or if you have any questions about the event, please contact Will Whitworth, SEHD’s Recruitment & Admissions Navigator.
