Whether as a faculty or staff member, CU Denver is always looking to hire the best talent to support CU Denver students. Through effective and fair search practices, the university can consistently identify the best talent available. Utilizing Search Advocates in their searches is one way CU Denver is striving for excellence in the recruitment of internal and external talent.
A Search Advocate is a non-voting, external search committee member who serves as a content neutral process advisor. They work with search committees throughout the search and selection process to advance quality, validity, and search success. The Search Advocate encourages the use of high impact practices that help CU Denver search committees identify, interview, and recruit the best candidates. As a content neutral participant, they are able to focus on effective process and prevent challenges before they arise. In this role they work with the hiring authority, search committee chair, and larger committee from the creation of the job description through the hiring of the successful candidate, always aiming to improve the quality of the search.
To be eligible to serve as a search advocate, an employee must first have served on search committees and/or search chair in the past two years. Search Advocates attend seven hours of training to serve in their role and receive on-going support through CU Denver HR.
The next upcoming Search Advocate training is coming up on the following dates, trainees are expected to attend both dates of training:
June 17th from 9:00am-12:30pm
June 18th from 9:00am-12:30pm
If you or anyone else is interested in attending the Search Advocate Training, please email Tyler Keyworth in Campus HR at tyler.keyworth@ucdenver.edu to sign up. They have not yet confirmed a location for the training.
