Leave Certification, August 2024

Guided by the Board of Regents Policy, the University of Colorado requires all leave-eligible employees who use My Leave and other time tracking systems to verify the accuracy of their sick and vacation leave after the close of the fiscal year to ensure all vacation and sick leave balances are accurate. This year’s Leave Certification will run from Aug. 1 – 31.

Only employees who accrue regular vacation and sick leave need to certify. Student employees, temporary employees and contracted lecturers who only receive Sick Leave under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA) do not need to certify their State Sick Leave.

How it works

1) Employees certify their leave in the employee portal.

Directions will be sent to all eligible employees. Directions can also be found on the Leave Certification webpage. Once employees certify their leave, they will no longer be sent email reminders.

2) Supervisors review and approve each employee’s leave.
After employees have certified their leave, supervisors must review and approve. Directions can be found here: Leave Certification webpage.

Suggestions

If you are having trouble, here are some tips:

  • It is recommended to use one of three preferred browsers: Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge
  • Please follow the instructions very carefully. You will need to review a certain month and a column in MyLeave and do a little math to arrive at the correct numbers for comparison. The reason is because there is a delay between MyLeave and the payroll system’s accrual process.
