Overall (SEHD)
Acknowledgement of a common theme of problematized hyflex teaching. The core challenges seem to fall to (a) class community building (b) faculty workload and (c) technology; but there is more to consider. Our sub-projects seem to gravitate and focus on teaching across modalities, e.g. hyflex, boundary-less, etc. Discussions on hyflex praxis within the SEHD and deliverables to the greater SEHD faculty body in the Spring.
Rebecca Kantor Digital Atelier (SEHD)
Room 1100 is being revamped this Winter/Spring in anticipation of a mid to late Spring dedication. Technology will be modified and the aesthetic/atmosphere will promote a multi-sensory Reggio Emilia theme. The room will document and highlight 4 distinct hybrid pedagogies/exemplars. Hybrid Community of Practice (CoP) (SEHD)
The DTL committee is organizing a Spring Community of Practice for faculty to further process, examine, and develop digital pedagogies – particularly centered on notions of hyflex-pandemic teaching. This will be a qualitative ethnography of SEHD hybridity and will pay participants $500 for their contribution – sponsored by the Digital Pedagogy Lab (DPL). Work in progress. Hyflex Survey (SEHD)
The DTL committee is organizing a faculty survey to examine SEHD hybrid pedagogies and realities. It will gather baseline data on our pandemic praxis to date with an aim of problematizing hyflex realities – and identifying potential responses. This will be a quantitative ethnography of SEHD hybridity. Work in progress. (Alan Davis, Courtney Donovan, Rachel Stein)
Creative Merit (SEHD)
The DTL committee is researching provisions and rewards for faculty creativity and innovation. Similar to teaching, service, and research; creative innovation deserves merit. Exploring options and planning recommendations potentially intersecting with RTP/Merit and workload. Work in progress. (Jarrod Hanson, Lisa Forbes)
Digital Education Taskforce (campus)
Katie Linder is leading a campus Digital Education Taskforce and requesting input/feedback/ideas from the greater campus community. This is a visioning of digital education at CU Denver and helping define our strategies, pedagogies, and differentiation. Brad H. and Joni D. serve on the taskforce and encourage any/all interested parties to sign-up for one of the open conversations scheduled here.
Proctorio (campus)
Proctorio is test proctoring software for surveilling remote exams. It is widely recognized as problematic in terms of DEI and effective pedagogy. It is currently licensed and in-use at CU Denver, but there is movement underway to decouple from the company next year. (LETTS Committee)
AHEC Classrooms (campus)
LETTS is leading a dialogue with OIT, AHEC, MSU, and CCD about the condition of classrooms in Plaza, North, and the King Center. In the interest of reliable teaching infrastructure, there is consensus that standards and baselines need to be established and sustained. Work in progress. (LETTS Committee)
