Using Open Educational Resources on College Campuses

Open Educational Resources are teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain and includes full courses, course materials, modules, textbooks, streaming videos, tests, software, and any other tools, materials or techniques used to support access to knowledge. OER help to keep college costs down and assure equity and access to all students and also allows faculty to create  courses that are more flexible, relevant, and engaging. The CFD and ODE have collaborated to create what we call the “OER Jumpstart Pathway” which is designed to help faculty build their knowledge about OER  Over a one month period (March 8 – April 12) faculty participants will attend four face-to-face gatherings and complete three self-paced tutorials We encourage faculty who teach lower division, large enrollment, and gateway courses to participate, and we will prioritize faculty who teach courses with high textbook costs.  Faculty participants will receive $250 in PD funds.
