- Student Designed Courses How might we move towards a more open-ended process that leaves the syllabus (for instance) more open ended? How do we elicit student voice in this process?
- Personal / Professional Learning Networks How can we better utilize social media channels to enhance our own learning? to enhance the learning of our students? to increase our own visibility and influence?
- Personalized Learning Environments Explore PLEs: What do they look like? How does it benefit learning? Models? Impact?
- Instructor Identity Thinking about critical digital pedagogy: How does instructor identity show up in online education? How does it influence student experience? Becoming aware of our online “identity” and the privilege present.
- Using Social Media in Classrooms How and why are we requiring students to use social media to engage with our courses? What are the most effective and least oppressive ways to do this?
- Our Own Teaching Teaching quality in higher ed is highly variable and, ahem, often not very good. How can we up the urgency of our colleagues regarding the quality of their own instruction?
- DFW Can we rethink the structure and design of DFW cattle-call courses? (drop, fail, withdraw)
- Reality Literacy? What’s real anymore? Mixed realities, fake news, and bot conversations. There is a growing need for student to tell the difference.
- Algorithm Literacy What does it mean to be ‘algorithm literate’ these days? How should faculty think about adaptive learning software, early warning systems, filter bubbles in our social media streams, and so on?
- Service Learning (upgrade) How can we expand and extend aspects of service-learning for students? That is – connect them with real-world projects in the community; applying their discipline and learning in tandem
