The meeting focused on discussing AI policy implementation across the university, with the DTL committee’s work coming to an end. The group reviewed a draft AI statement and discussed incorporating it into syllabus templates, with plans to provide flexibility for faculty to address four key elements however they see fit. Several participants shared experiences with AI usage in classrooms, including concerns about students using AI for peer reviews and the challenges of detecting AI-generated content. The committee decided to clean up their document and make recommendations to the Dean about potentially forming an ad hoc committee for ongoing AI policy discussions. The conversation ended with a brief review of instructor approval processes and FCQ feedback, where the committee discussed how to handle low scores and provide appropriate mentorship to instructors.
