Caminos: An Ethnographic Study of Latino and Ally Leaders Serving Rural Latino Communities Before and During the Pandemic
“This study focused on rural Latino and ally leaders in the Midwest. The purpose of this study was to examine how Latino and ally leaders produced different forms of capital in serving and leading the Latino community over the decades prior to and during the pandemic. The sample consisted of 22 Latino and ally leaders. A culturally responsive ethnography and other qualitative methods were used to collect and analyze the data. The findings demonstrated that the rural leaders from different generations were generating social capital and other forms of capital to guide and serve the Latino community before and during the pandemic. Recommendations were provided for extension specialists.”
