The Prosocial School Leader: Theory, Research, and Action
“In a recent survey report, state-level educational policymakers overwhelmingly reported that the administrators in the school building play a central role in supporting social and emotional learning and more broadly creating healthy and caring schools (Solomon et al., 2018). Educators have also emphasized the importance of social and emotional learning (SEL) because it is an essential component of education that is inextricably tied to school success and positive student performance especially during unprecedented times (Cipriano et al., 2020, DePaoli et al., 2017, Jones and Doolittle, 2017, Mahfouz, 2018, Schonert-Reichl et al., 2017, Schonert-Reichl and Weissberg, 2023).”
