‘All children deserve a chance’: Pueblo childhood educator closing book on 50-year career
An early childhood educator who taught countless students, gave away more than 1 million books and taught more than 500 classes to other educators is putting the finishing touches on the final chapter of a half-century career.
Cindy Bernal has had an epic career — pun intended. As director for Executives Partnering to Invest in Children, also known as EPIC, she spent the past eight years training Pueblo teachers, parents and professionals on 49 different early childhood topics.
Although she first “retired” from directing the Children First Department at Pueblo Community College in 2013, she was called back to serve by her love of something “that makes me feel really good.”
