The National P-3 Center hosted its signature biennial event, The National P-3 Institute, in Vail, October 22-25. Fourteen teams from eight states were selected to attend through a competitive application process. Designed as a professional learning retreat, the Institute combines exposure to cutting-edge ideas in P-3 (preschool through 3rd grade) reforms with dedicated team planning time to craft a P-3 strategy in their local context.
Speakers included:
- Swati Adarkar, Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education
- Dr. Meredith Honig, District Leadership Design Lab (DL2) at University of Washington
- Dr. Mónica Byrne-Jimenez, Executive Director of University Council for Education Administration (UCEA)
- Dr. Jason Sachs, Deputy Director at the Gates Foundation
- Dr. Shantel Meek, Executive Director of Children’s Equity Project at Arizona State University
As one participant commented, “The institute continues to be a game changing experience for our team. This is the 3rd district I have been part of and I’ve learned so much each time and the team building is elevated and new stakeholders are brought on. It’s amazing ! You all do exceptional work!”
The National P-3 Center team includes Kristie Kauerz, Kate Tarrant, Amy Brenton, Stephanie Olmore, Abby Stein, and doctoral student Sierra Dinges.
