Software, Classrooms, & AI (oh my!)

Software Upvote
Thank you for upvoting on software needs, feel free to peruse the trendy winners here.  We’ll use this input to lobby for software approvals from the mother ship, and consider fiscal investments into school level licensing.  Most recent:
  • Dedoose is under negotiation and discussion for campus or system licensing.  Campus (Downtown and AMC) is most likely.  Details are TBD and discussions are ongoing.  The SEHD is at the table as we are the requestor.
  • Otter.ai has been resubmitted to OIT Risk & Compliance (RAC) for review and approval. We have requested a blanket approval for the full SEHD.
  • SPSS, managed by CU Boulder, has been re-activated and is available for licensing via OnTheHub.  We are considering a mechanism where you acquire SPSS directly from the SEHD Tech Team – let us know if this would be preferable.
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro is at the top of the upvote list.  It is pre-approved by the mother ship but currently an individual’s purchase.  We will explore budget implications for school level licensing and/or cost sharing.
  • Canva will be the next blanket re-request. We must pace ourselves and not overwhelm the mother ship.

Classrooms
Last Summer we leveraged OIT AV services and their AV vendor to upgrade SEHD rooms 648, 745, and 1150.  These rooms are mostly functional, but not fully.  They are still exhibiting random hiccups.  Fixes are an ongoing dialogue and process with OIT AV and their AV vendor. Let us know if you experience ANY problems – find us in LSC724 and/or sehdhelp@ucdenver.edu.  Thanks for your patience.
We will regroup before turning to other SEHD classrooms and conference rooms.  We will provide an upgrade timeline as soon as it is complete.

AI @ CU
CU OIT has adopted Microsoft Copilot as the formal AI platform of CU Denver & AMC.  Copilot is effectively OpenAI with a Microsoft label.  This emerges at CU in two formats.
  • Microsoft Copilot for the Web – is a web chat interaction, available to all employees at copilot.microsoft.com.  Login with your CU credentials.  Learn more on LinkedIn Learning – here.
  • Microsoft Copilot for Office 365 – is AI baked into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.  This is available for purchase as an add-on at a cost of $410.02 per year.  You can learn more from OIT here or go learn what it does via LinkedIn Learning – here.
There are rumors of AI initiatives / invitations on the horizon from OIT and/or from ORS.  Unconfirmed, but these will likely be small internal grants for exploration and innovation.
Put on your thinking caps.
