The Couple and Family Therapy program welcomes new faculty member, Kristian Villalovos. Kristian Villalovos is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Ph.D. candidate at Texas Tech University in the Couple, Marriage, and Family Therapy program. Her professional experience includes serving as an Instructor of Record at Texas Tech, as well as working at the University Medical Center and Family Therapy Clinic. Additionally, she was a Doctoral Fellow for the AAMFT Minority Fellowship program and completed her doctoral internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., Kristian held the role of lead therapist at a substance abuse treatment program, where she managed the clinical department team and provided crisis intervention. She also worked as a therapist for a non-profit agency contracted by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. These experiences have shaped her research interests, focusing on addiction treatment and therapist training and education. Kristian will join the CFT team as a Senior Instructor for the academic year 2024-25 teaching core classes as well as providing clinical supervision in the program.
