Dean Lynn Appointed as a Founding Member and Chair of the Colorado Educator Preparation Advisory Council

Dr. Marvin Lynn, dean of the School of Education & Human Development (SEHD), has been selected to chair the Colorado Educator Preparation Advisory Council (CEPAC).

As a part of Senate Bill 23-258, the committee is charged with providing input on relevant topics related to educator preparation and educator quality. The eight-person council contains education professionals from urban, rural and charter schools, traditional and alternative teacher preparation programs, the Colorado Department of Education and the Colorado Department of Higher Education. The committee convened on Nov. 14, 2023, and elected Dr. Lynn as chair.

CEPAC is led by SEHD alumna Dr. Susana Cordova (MA, ‘00), Colorado’s commissioner of education, and Mary Bivens, the executive director of Educator Workforce Development at the Colorado Department of Education. The mission of CEPAC is to provide the Colorado Department of Education and State Board of Education with feedback to improve educator preparation programs in Colorado.

Lynn is a nationally recognized educational equity scholar, public university administrator and an accomplished singer. He is one of the most highly cited researchers in the nation around educational equity.
