  • The committee discussed – 6 outstanding graduate nominees
    • MA Counseling – Karla Horgan Arevalo
    • MA LEO – Neil Shupe
    • MAT – James Dolores
    • MA CLDE – Kayla Beltran
    • MA C&I Critical Pedagogy – Rachel Martin
    • The committee selected James Delores as outstanding graduate
    • Caron will notify the program leader for each department
      • They can tell their nominees that they were nominated to celebrate them.
    • Rebecca Schell will notify James.
    • The committee discussed requesting funds for a quality certificate that we can print and provide to the student.
      • There is no budget for the committee.
      • Last year a committee member volunteered to do this. PDF of Certificate
      • Caron will check about this.
    • Outstanding Graduate Nominee Form
      • The committee discussed changes needed on the form (Matt/IT)
        • Enter name for who completed the form
        • Fewer questions, but give nominators prompts to provide more specific examples.
      • The committee discussed changes needed to the process, which is more complicated than it needs to be.
        • Give faculty the option of submitting a form or letter of nomination
        • Prompts for including examples of student leadership and student voice
          • Need to ensure that the prompts are consistent for both options
        • Provide examples of previous winners applications.

    • The committee engaged in a brainstorming session about celebrating all students – This is different from Outstanding Graduates. Ideas included:
      • Departmental celebrations
      • Promoting students in social media
        • Start conversation with Julia
        • Next meeting is not until January 16
        • The committee will communicate via email about progress until then
      • The committee reviewed meeting dates for the year – Student Committee Meetings: 3rd Monday of the month. 2022-23 Meeting Dates (Sept 19; Oct. 17; Jan 16, February 20 (President’s Day), & April 17)
