Dr. Robin Brandehoff, assistant clinical professor in CU Denver’s Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education program, was awarded an ORS Large Grant of $12,000 for her upcoming work in Hawai’i. She will be conducting qualitative work with a new cohort of student teachers and educator mentors in Oahu, Hawai’i to further develop a pedagogical framework she has created called Hānai Pedagogy (Brandehoff, under review). She is honored to be partnering with a Grow Your Own teacher education program called INPEACE (Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture) in the Waianae area of Oahu. Her study is titled “Hānai Pedagogy: How Educators of Color Haku Learning Through Cultural Identity, Language, and Kanaka ‘Ōiwi Traditions in Hawai’i”.
