Complain About Teams

Have you been experiencing any meeting-confusion between Teams and Zoom? OIT has set Teams as a default when creating Outlook calendar meetings and this has produced a number of scenarios in which one-half of the meeting goes into Teams and another half of the meeting goes into Zoom. We have fielded this complaint repeatedly in the LETTS committee.

We officially asked OIT to disable this default as it is broadly and increasingly disruptive – and Zoom is the institution’s video conferencing platform. OIT said it will not, as they have no evidence that it is a problem. They have indicated that when and if they achieve a higher number of helpdesk complaints, they’ll consider it. LETTS advised that many folks do not complain or submit helpdesk tickets, but suffer in silence – unaware that this could be disabled.

OIT requires more complaints before considering this change.
