Hello from the DEI Committee! We had a busy fall reviewing the feedback offered to us about staff and faculty hopes for our work this year and planning for the spring semester. We want to share several initiatives/events we have planned for spring and invite your participation!

Events open to staff and faculty:

-Zoom Lunch and Learn: Addressing Anti-Semitism on University Campuses facilitated by Dr. Chaya Abrams -2/24, 12:00 PM- 1:00 PM. Sign up here!

-Book Club: Creating a Home in Schools: Sustaining Identities for Black, Indigenous, and Teachers of Color by Rios & Longoria (2021), will meet via Zoom in March– and also have an opportunity to discuss by mail! Sign up by 2/15 here

-Tentative (April): Zoom Lunch and Learn on Maximizing Accommodations in Online Teaching to Support All Learners -more details/information to come!

Other initiatives we are working on:

-In collaboration with doctoral student facilitators, hosting protected student listening sessions to gain an understanding of students’ experiences in the SEHD.

-Plan to begin work on revising/revisiting the role of committee in by-laws in collaboration with the new AD of EDI.

-Collaborating with the Curriculum Committee and other partners across campus to increase visibility of religious observations and days/months of recognition for historically marginalized communities.
