State awards SVVSD $2.8 million grant to collaborate on K-5 summer program
The program will be staffed by certified teachers with reading intervention training and coaching. Helping with the programs will be a corps of high school student apprentices. The positions will be paid, and districts can choose to partner with the University of Colorado Denver so the apprentices can earn three semester hours of college credit.
The high school apprenticeship program is modeled on St. Vrain Valley’s P-TEACH program and is designed to encourage students of color, bilingual students and first generation students to go into teaching.
