At CU Denver, we continually strive to facilitate the work of our faculty and promote their expertise. In that spirit, we are excited to announce the launch of our new Faculty Activity Reporting system (FAR). FAR is an online platform that CU Denver faculty can utilize to input, store and report their professional activities. It prioritizes ease of use, assures access to validated and accurate information, and provides the kind of data and reports that will empower faculty to tell their story, inform accreditation processes, and provide university leadership with insights into the breadth and depth of faculty activities, accomplishments and contributions.
In 2019 CU Denver contracted with Interfolio, a leading academic faculty management software and higher education technology firm, to address the challenges and limitations of our electronic Faculty Report of Professional Activities (eFRPA), internally developed in 2012. To ensure that a new tool would be of value to our faculty and would represent the diversity of faculty professional activities across all of our schools and colleges, we formed the Interfolio Advisory Group (IAG), which includes faculty, staff and leaders with representation from all of our schools and colleges, the library, the Provost’s Office, and the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. The IAG has worked together with Interfolio staff to deliver a customized solution for CU Denver. The IAG has:
* guided the migration of eFRPA data into FAR,
* optimized the tool for our unique needs,
* developed customizations to categories that reflect the nuances and diversity of our faculty activities,
* and prepared training support for faculty.
The team will continue to be involved in the project to collect feedback, provide support, and guide updates needed in the following year.
FAR is now available for all faculty to use. Get started by reviewing information on the FAR webpage located on the Office of Faculty Affairs website. The website includes links to a 30-minute FAR Faculty Training course developed by the IAG and a login link to access the FAR tool.
