Faculty, staff, students, alumni and

members of the public welcome!

Current findings in counseling literature suggest that persons having experienced Historical Trauma and HTR suffer disruption in multiple areas of functioning, and may benefit from psychotherapeutic intervention and connection. Despite these findings, it has been found that counselors and researchers lack understanding of HTR and experience ambivalence associated with immersion into deeper narratives of survivors of collective or group trauma. A combination of indigenous and non-indigenous treatment approaches and studies for Historical Trauma and HTR will be presented. Newer research on body and land-based trauma, SOC (Sense of Coherence) and future directions in the field of Historical Trauma will be presented.
