Join us this Thursday, December 5th, for a lunch and presentation by Dr. Deb Leong. Dr. Leong is professor Emerita of Psychology at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she taught for 36 years in the psychology department and in the department of education.

Dr. Leong and her colleague, Dr. Elena Bodrova, brought the theories of Lev Vygotsky and his followers Luria, Leont’ev and Elkonin to scores of early childhood educators through their curriculum and pedagogical framework known as “Tools of the Mind.” In the last several years, they have applied their Vygotskian, social constructivist ideas to “power tools,” that is apps created to understand how individual children approach text in early reading. Dr. Leong speaks of the need to present the subskills of reading with rigor and without destroying the complexity of written text.

Please join us in welcoming our colleague to CU Denver.
