Crafting Your Online Scholarly Presence (video/article)

A number of SEHD colleagues are exploring an initiative called A Domain of One’s Own (DoOO) in league with the thinqstudio. Attached is an article on the initiative from the latest issue of the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy on Becoming Literate Digitally (PDF) – thank you Lori Elliot!

This initiative involves personalized web sites for students and faculty that are, in effect, online scholarly portfolios.  This is a pedagogical philosophy that emphasizes moving people online, as opposed to moving courses online.  This is being done at a number of universities across the country including and the University of Michigan College of Arts & Letters, whose Dean explains below. This work will be developing further over the summer as a part of the thinqstudio initiative.  You can browse Christopher Long’s portfolio at http://cplong.org/.
