FACULTY & STAFF IMPORTANT DATES | SEHD August Meetings/Events

Please make sure the Opening Faculty & Staff Meeting and Fall Retreat dates are on your calendar and plan to attend. If you have any questions or if you have an unavoidable conflict that will prevent you from attending either date, please respond to this email and let us know.

SEHD 2016 Opening Faculty & Staff Meeting – Friday, August 19th, 8:30 AM – 3 PM: There will be a lite continental breakfast served at 8:30 AM and the meeting will begin at 9 AM. We likely will not use the entire time however, please hold it until we get the final agenda out in a week or so. While we normally like to have the opening meeting on the Wednesday before classes start, there were no meeting rooms large enough available on OR off-campus (in the immediate vicinity) and this Friday is the only date that will allow us all to meet together and kick-off the year as is our tradition. In addition, since you will already be on campus, we would like to encourage everyone to participate in the CU Denver Convocation Ceremony and Activities happening on August 19th (see below for specific details).
SEHD Fall Retreat – Wednesday, August 31, 8:30 AM – 3 PM: Again, there will be a lite continental breakfast served at 8:30 AM and the meeting will begin at 9 AM. The SEHD Diversity Committee is planning a PD training/presentation with A Queer Endeavor as guest facilitators for the morning session. We will then have lunch followed by a presentation by the Aspireview Team. More details and the agenda will be released as we get closer to the date.

CU DENVER NEW STUDENT CONVOCATION CEREMONY AND CELEBRATION
Friday, August 19
SEHD Reception | 3:30pm – 4:45pm | Tivoli 320 A&B
Ceremony | 5:00pm | PE/Event Center
BBQ | 6:00pm | CU Denver Athletic Field

New Student Convocation is the official welcome for all new students to the University of Colorado Denver. Similar to graduation being the end of a student’s university experience, this event marks the beginning of a student’s time at CU Denver and involves a pinning ceremony. This is an opportunity for incoming students to come together for their first official university event. Parking will be free in the Tivoli Parking Garage.

Faculty and Staff register here.

Please plan on attending! It’s a great way to get to know our new undergraduate students and wear your regalia! The BBQ is family-friendly!
