I. GENERAL BUSINESS & REVIEW/DISCUSSION:

Course updates for the 2016 – 2017 Academic Catalog. Course proposals due to the committee for review by program:

  • CLDE: 4
  • EDHD and HDFR: 8
  • INTE: 1
  • LCRT: 4
  • SPED: 1

Curriculum Committee members will reach out to program leaders regarding courses that need reviewing before they can be offered for the fall 2016 semester.

EDFN 5260/7260-Education Advocacy

  • Course will be a concentration area option for the Critical Pedagogy MA, EdD and PhD students.
  • Also a course option for the Teacher Leadership Certificate
  • Syllabus needs updating and brought back to the committee for review:
    • Edit syllabus for typos and clarity.
    • Use syllabus template for SEHD policies and procedures.
    • Trim down course description expectations for the catalog to 40 words.
    • Consistency in assignment expectation for online postings, Friday or Saturday for the initial post?
    • More Clarity in the Advocacy Action Plan & Analysis and Field Advocacy Reflection.
    • Clarify participation and discussion points, the assignments do not appear to have measurable outcomes.
    • Explain differentation; are EdD students required to do differentiated work?

[row_column]Early Literacy Certificate Online – Title Change

  • Update title to Early Literacy Certificate.
  • When the certificate was first approved, it was offered only online.
  • Removing Online from the title allows for courses to be offered in different formats (i.e. face-to-face, hybrid or online).
