As a follow-up to our previous posting regarding the new Student Employee Work Hours policy, we have some additional relevant information to share regarding who may already be eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act:
- The first look-back period was May 2014 – April 2015.
- Employees averaging more than 30 hrs/wk during the look-back period (who are not already benefits eligible) are being offered health benefits in June (this month) to begin July 1.
- These employees can keep their health benefits for one year as long as they remain employed.
- SEHD HR has no way to know if we currently have any benefits-eligible employees under this new policy, although we are asking if a report can be provided to us. Our understanding is that CU Employee Services will send letters directly to supervisors. Please notify Patricia.Ball@ucdenver.edu if you receive such a notice.
