Listed below is the schedule of workshops  being offered this semester by CU Online. These workshops are free to UC Denver faculty on the downtown Denver Campus and the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC).

Thinking through Academic Honesty

March 13, 11:30 – 1pm, downtown

In today’s world, catching cheaters is an arms race. Just when you think you have every solution in place, they have moved on to something new – something more high tech – something… sneakier. In this session, we will dive into the academic honesty strategies that promote academic integrity as well as review strategies for reducing plagiarism and cheating in online courses. A brief list of the topics to be covered include: – honor codes – academic honesty student/faculty training – assessment design – plagiarism detection – online test proctoring – exit interviews, summative assessments
 

Zoom Web Conferencing

March 20, 11:30 – 1pm, downtown

Web conferencing tools are a powerful way to remotely connect with your students in real time, but successful and meaningful interactions take planning and practice. Come learn and discuss best practices for online meetings and presentations, and identify what parts of your course that may work well in this format. Get experience hosting your own Zoom conference.

Designing a Mobile Ready Course with Universal Design 

April 3, 11:30 – 1pm, downtown

With a rising number of students accessing and completing coursework through mobile applications on devices such as smartphones and tablets, it is important that accessing your course through a mobile application is as engaging and effective as accessing your course from a computer. Come learn and implement design tips for creating mobile friendly content (many of which can be applied to course design in general).

Are you new to Canvas? This hands-on workshop is for faculty who are preparing to teach with Canvas for the first time. We will provide a basic overview of the Canvas interface and an introduction to strategies for using modules, assignments, syllabus and announcements in your face to face or online course.
