Sixteen undergraduates majoring in Human Development and Family Relations chose to study their life paths to HDFR and beyond in a course on research methods. They are a diverse group. More than half are children of immigrants representing three different continents, one is a veteran, eight transferred to CU Denver from other institutions, and all but five are first generation college students.
Research Questions
? How do immigrant parents influence their
children to excel in school and go to college?
? How is caring manifested by higher education
faculty, and does it matter?
? How do family obligations and reciprocal
relationships continue to play an important role
while first generation students are in college?
? What is the experience of undergrad students
who transferred to CU Denver?
? How did HDFR students choose their major?
? How do students imagine life after graduation?
Students will share answers to these questions in an interactive poster session.
