Lucinda Soltero-González, candidate for the Assistant/Associate Professor of Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education, will be coming to campus on Tuesday, February 7.

Brief Bio
Lucinda Soltero-González is an educational consultant for research projects in the BUENO Center for Multicultural Education at the University of Colorado Boulder. She taught in elementary school and bilingual special education classrooms for several years before receiving her doctorate degree in Language, Reading, and Culture from the University of Arizona in 2007. She was an Assistant Professor in the Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity program at the University of Colorado Boulder for nine years. Her research addresses issues of equity, language, literacy and culture in the education of young bilingual Latinos. In particular, she investigates early biliteracy development and biliteracy practices in U.S. schools. She examines ways to create culturally- and linguistically-responsive learning environments to increase equitable opportunities for learning for students from non-dominant backgrounds in school.
Dr. Soltero-González’s research has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes. She is co-author of the book, Biliteracy from the Start: Literacy Squared in Action, and co-editor of an upcoming text, Abriendo brecha: antología crítica sobre la educación bilingüe de doble inmersión.
