  1. GENERAL BUSINESS & REVIEW/DISCUSSIONS:

Overview:

  • Kristin Whitmore and Scott McLeod will co-chair the committee
  • CC meetings will change to 9:00-11:00 am

Dean’s Team Discussion:

  • Syllabus Statement
    • AI guidance pending recommendations from the university AI Committee
    • Incorporate accreditation and licensure language
  • Think innovatively about new programs, how can the SEHD expand our portfolio to fit the needs of the community

 

  1. COURSE PROPOSAL/REVISION REQUESTS:

  • Program proposal form submitted to drop Counseling program credit hours from 63 to 60 credit hours
  • Prosed new courses:
    • COUN 5300 Appraisal, Assessment, & Research in Counseling
      • Replacing two REM courses (RSEM 5110 and 5120) to align with CACREP accreditation requirements
    • COUN 5250 Lifespan Development
      • Replacing LDFS 6200, the LDFS course focuses on K-12 individuals, the COUN course will focus on the entire lifespan of a person

The committee acknowledged the accreditation rationale for the Counseling proposals but agreed that further guidance is needed before approving changes that could affect enrollment, revenue, and faculty resources across programs. A final decision will be made by Oct 5, 2026.
