Student Grade Appeal / Plans for Updating Student Appeals Steps:
- The committee discussed changes to streamline/clarify/improve current policies
- When an appeal comes into the committee it is up to the committee to notify the student and faculty member of the appeal and collect any relevant information and supporting materials.
- Syllabus – focus on policy and any violations of the policy
- Statement from faculty and student
- Additional statements from the program lead if needed
- Emails, assessments, etc.
- 2 weeks to get statements from faculty
- The committee reviews all documentation, the student appeal, and makes a decision. Decide at the meeting if a formal meeting with the committee is needed/an option.
- The committee sends out a determination to the student and faculty member (separately).
- If the student chooses to appeal the decision, they have 30 days to appeal to the dean.
- If this is the case, send all materials to the dean for review asap.
- If an appeal comes in at the end of the semester or over the summer, someone from the committee needs to email the student that the committee will not be meeting until the following semester.
