Chancellor’s Diversity Showcase
Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center
October 22, 2018
4-6 pm
This event is for CU Denver faculty, staff, and students. The purpose of the event is to present and celebrate the wide variety of programs, initiatives, services, research, etc. that help to accomplish our priority to enhance diversity and foster a culture of inclusion. Participants’ displays will illustrate our comprehensive approach to diversity, which recognizes historically underrepresented persons/groups in the areas of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, veteran status, and ability status. This framework is coupled with added recognition of dimensions of nationality, religion, socioeconomic status, political affiliation, diverse experiences, perspectives, and attributes that can enhance the scholarly, learning, and clinical environment.
The event space will consist of a variety of formats, including booths, posters, display tables, brochures, videos, flyers, interactive exercises, etc. The format of each designated space will depend on participants’ preferences.
Each space will focus on any aspect(s) of diversity cited above. Suggested topics include: programs, grants, scholarships, diversity plans, services, research projects, community partnerships, professional development initiatives, curricula, events, diversity reports, case studies, narratives, recruitment processes, mentoring programs, spotlight on colleagues who conduct research on diversity, etc.
Invited exhibitors include all of the schools and colleges, the Auraria Library, and numerous other units/groups (including student groups) at CU Denver. We will provide an exhibit space for each participant.
In addition to learning what participants are doing, attendees will have an opportunity to share their ideas for additional endeavors (e.g., to post comments on an Idea Wall).
As your point of contact and planning facilitator I am reaching out to both faculty and staff for your help. Please identify select activities representative of the SEHD and please forward any suggestions for display consideration.
