On behalf of Museo de las Americas, The Denver Writing Project, and other sponsors including The Spencer Foundation, the CU Denver SEHD Community is cordially invited to the opening reception of Nuestras Historias | Our Stories at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 29th.
Nuestras Historias is an art exhibition that brings together teens from Museo’s Lxs Jovenes Leadership Lab and professional creatives in a powerful artistic conversation. The artworks explore themes of tradition, justice, identity, and playfulness through embroidery, painting, drawing, ceramics, poetry, and video. Under the guidance of local artists, teens not only created the artworks but were also included in the curatorial process and the installation of this exhibition. This collaboration combines young and professional artistic voices as a unique insight into the diverse cultural contexts across generations in and around the Denver Metro area. In Nuestras Historias, the museum acts as a space for young people to interpret and reimagine today’s world, centering their ideas alongside professional artists as equally valid expressions of hope, belonging, and ancestry.
The free opening reception features live music, drinks, and light appetizers beginning at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 29th at Museo de las Americas. Click here to register!
If you aren’t able to attend the opening reception, be sure to plan a time to visit the exhibit between January 30th and May 17th, 2026, and look for information about featured events such as art making, writing workshops, artist talks, etc., throughout the duration of the exhibit.
Feel free to reach out to Sarah Woodard (sarah.woodard@ucdenver.edu) with any questions or inquiries.
