GENERAL BUSINESS & REVIEW/DISCUSSIONS:
Program Proposals: Committee discussed reviewing the minutes from the program leader’s meeting before meeting with faculty, this may help with duplicate conversations.
2.COURSE PROPOSAL/REVISION REQUESTS:
Dennis DeBay – STEM EdD Concentration & MSEd
- Streamline the Doctoral program process
- Alot of our students are looking for STEM ED experience not just Math or science etc…
- Looking at how to build courses to be more STEM focused.
- Joined- STEM and LDT students- to bring T part of STEM in.
- It’s primarily been Math and Science for 13 years, but we are wanting to consider bringing the Tech side together with Math and science.
- LDT and STEM Ed groups will still come in to be separate but will collaborate where we see fit.
- Concentration name- STEM Ed.
- Next admissions group will come in as STEM Ed, Math and Science will be taught out.
- THERE WILL STILL BE TWO DIFFERENT DEGREES AT THE END (STEM ED & LDT)
- MSEd enrollment numbers are declining. Remove from the catalog and application. We may want to rebrand at a different time, do not fully discontinue at this point.
VOTE – Approved
Andrea Laser- ECE_ECSE Dual Licensure
- Currently ECE offers Maser degree. As a requirement to license, we need to map standards for CDE across diff tabs (ECE and another ECE). Already mapping standards to ECE Tab- why aren’t students coming out with additional endorsement.
- Talked to CDE- Apply for DUAL endorsement. Submitted in May. Approved in June by CDE.
- Students have asked for this over time- will attract more students because of dual endorsement. Adds a selling point.
- UCCS and UNC also have this dual endorsement.
- Also looking towards Special Ed endorsement at UG level (coming soon).
- Sent the proposal to program leaders over the Summer- Did not hear anything back.
- Wondering if program leaders/CC should come before submission to CDE?
- Committee discussed the process of coming to CC/Program leaders before CDE (ADD TO FORM IF CDE NEEDS TO BE INVOLVED)
VOTE – Approved
Jorge Chavez & Jung-In Kim – LDFS Learning Concentration
- LDFS masters program
- HDFR learning concentration- Jung-In leading
- Accessibility study- After a google search for the program and specialty concentration- found that it was hard to locate.
- 2019 name changed to LDFS
- Human learning concentration- few applications
- Terminology- Education Psychology used more than Learning Sciences (admin supported Education Psychology and Learning Sciences)
- Programs that use Education Psychology have more robust enrollments
- Completed due diligence to avoid overlapping with other programs.
- Next steps- Shakira will work on getting a new code and getting into the catalog
- Name change makes sense even in context of several previous name changes.
VOTE – Approved
