Dr. Kristie Kauerz and seven SEHD doctoral students recently spent four days in Washington, DC attending the Government Affairs Institute, hosted by Georgetown University. The certificated seminar  included a deep dive into the operations of Congress.  Class was held on the Hill, and participants were able to engage with past and present Congressional staffers and other federal policy experts. Dr. Kauerz collaborated with colleagues at University of Washington and Early Childhood Solutions to plan and host wrap-around events specific to early childhood policy, including a visit to the Administration for Children and Families in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and a visit to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Our University of Colorado Denver contingent included:
PhD students in Early Childhood Policy – Lindsay Shields, Elliot Haspel, Allie Kallmann Wegner, and Zelalem Wondimu Kitaw
