As a partnered teacher education program, Boulder Journey School and the School of Education and Human Development’s Early Childhood Program area are honored to co-host the Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material Exhibition and Atelier through August 26.
“Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material” is an exhibition-atelier that tells the story of research done in Reggio Emilia’s infant-toddler centres and preschools on the theme of mark making and drawing woven with narrative…The intent is to better understand the poetic fabric weaving together drawings and words, and convey the cognitive and expressive richness children generate.”

We co-funded this exhibition to be here in Colorado (between New Mexico and New Orleans) during Summer 2025 as an investment in professional learning for all educators and advocates statewide and to invite an examination of the ideas that are so beautifully illustrated in the exhibition. It is essential at this time for educators to see the work from Reggio Emilia that provides a counterbalance to some of the current explorations and approaches to children’s literacy learning.
We invite you to arrange a visit, free of cost, to the “Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material” Exhibition and Atelier displayed at Boulder Journey School, 1919 Yarmouth Avenue, Boulder 80304 and consider bringing your students or colleagues. Follow this link to indicate your interest.
Please reach out to Lori Ryan if you have any questions about this opportunity and if you’d like for her to join you for a visit
