The National P-3 Center is pleased to publish a new report, P-3 in Principal Preparation: Leveraging School Leadership to Improve Early Learning and the Early Grades. This Call to Action is grounded in the Center’s dedication to identifying and articulating system-level strategies that will improve young children’s learning opportunities and fundamentally reform the first level of education in the United States.
The vision is that infusing P-3 into principal preparation and development systems can influence the vast majority of the nation’s young students, closing both opportunity and achievement gaps that have persisted for decades.
To achieve this vision, the report focuses on five policy drivers that can influence elementary principals’ skills and knowledge at scale: state policy; the policies and practices of both institutions of higher education and school districts; research; and national organizations. Backed by compelling research, the Call to Action brings together the independent fields of P-3 and school leadership to offer bold and practical strategies to transform early learning and the early grades.
