Building Access Update: Buildings Unlocked First Two Weeks of School; Protocols Go Into Effect Sept. 3

Thank you to those of you who provided feedback as we’ve been exploring our badge access protocols. After discussion with leadership, we have decided to open CU Denver’s buildings for the first two weeks of classes to allow time for our new campus community members to get an ID badge and get their ID badges encoded for the buildings they use. During this time, the exterior doors to CU Denver buildings (Lawrence Street Center, Business School, Student Commons, CU Denver Building, Learning Commons) will be unlocked during weekday business hours. The building hours are listed below and will be uploaded to the AHEC website.

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, we will transition to more permanent protocols that are likely to require an active ID badge, so to please encourage your students, faculty, and staff to get their ID badges as soon as they can. Information about the specific protocol changes will be shared with you before activation.

How to get an ID badge: Visit the ID Station in the Tivoli Student Union #269 (located across from the bookstore). Regular hours are Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m.–3 p.m.; closed on Saturdays and Sundays. You will need to bring a government-issued ID and a completed ID Authorization/Charge Form.

If you get a new ID badge, the permissions to access the AHEC buildings will automatically be loaded onto your card, but you will need to make sure your badge is encoded for CU Denver-managed buildings as well. That’s true if you have an existing badge, too. To do so, contact Facilities by emailing  downtown.access@ucdenver.edu (preferred method), or calling (303) 315-7777. You may also stop by the access office during business hours at 1380 Lawrence Street, Suite 360 (if needed).
