Mike White, president of Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, told a group Wednesday that overall college enrollment has declined by 25 percent since 2016, citing the need to be more creative and flexible in addressing his rural Colorado market. He cited as a “crown jewel” example NJC’s partnership with the University of Colorado Denver to offer four-year programs on the two-year campus—through which rural Logan County students can graduate from a local high school, earn a BA, and go to work for a local school district, all without leaving the county.
